The heartbeat of Genuine Bakery belongs to Len and Francis DiBartolomeo, the brother team keeping one of Hamilton’s favourite bakeries true to its roots.

Family, community, and real ingredients have always been at the centre of what they do. Since taking the reins of their long-standing Barton Street bakery, they’ve carried forward a legacy that began in 1961 with their dad—continuing to serve up the same fresh, homemade quality their customers grew up with.

At Genuine Bakery, Len and Francis believe simple is best, freshness matters, and treating people right never goes out of style.

Our History

1961-1970s

The Beginning

Genuine Bakery was founded in Hamilton as a small wholesale bread company. Our goal was simple: to bring fresh, quality bread to the community every single day. As word spread, our bakery became a neighbourhood favourite. Families would stop by for fresh bread, buns, and pastries, and Genuine Bakery quickly became known for warm service and authentic Italian recipes.

1980s & 1990s

Expanding the Menu

With more demand came more offerings. We introduced hot table meals, and homemade Italian specialties that reminded customers of home cooking.

2000s

Catering Arrives

 We expanded into full-service catering, providing food for weddings, communions, baptisms, corporate events, and more. Our reputation for homestyle Italian cooking grew, and Genuine Bakery became one of Hamilton’s top choices for catering.

Three Generations

Still family-owned and operated, Genuine Bakery & Catering continues to serve Hamilton with pride. Three generations later, our mission remains the same: to provide authentic Italian food, homemade meals, and catering that exceeds expectations.
